Surgical Procedures

Our doctors offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. We thoroughly evaluate all patients for safety, screen with pre-anesthetic bloodwork, and specifically tailor our anesthetic protocol to your individual pet. We use the safest anesthetics available and our fully trained technical staff supports your pet throughout each procedure with IV fluids, an ECG, oxygen saturation monitor, heart rate and blood pressure monitors, carbon dixoide monitors and heated surgical tables.

intubation-surgeryOur doctors use their surgical expertise to diagnose or treat problems in many body systems. We can surgically remove bladder stones and alleviate urinary obstructions, perform intestinal surgery to obtain biopsy samples or remove a foreign object, amputate limbs, and even perform caesarian sections. AMC has a carbon dioxide surgical laser that is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures, such as spays, neuters and mass removals. All feline declaws are done with the laser. Whether a surgery is a routine spay or neuter or an emergency procedure on a sick patient, we apply the same high standard of surgical technique and nursing care for your pet.

After surgery your pet’s vital signs and comfort levels are closely monitored for several hours. They are offered food and medications appropriate for their specific dietary and recovery needs. Clear written instructions for post-operative care are reviewed with the owner during a one-on-one consultation with a technician prior to sending the patient home.
